Job Description
• The Technical Writer will support various publication, testing and deployment activities relating to a cross-divisional project. The goal of this project is to provide a common authoring and publishing tool to manage our manual set across ten operating divisions.

• The future system will replace division silos with a consistent solution that will promote interface management, deliver content in a dynamic XML format, enable technology, automate compliance management and allow end users to search against the complete manual library.

• The Technical Writer is an individual contributor who applies a comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of publication concepts and practices. The Technical Writer will create, maintain, and publish business and technical manuals for participating divisions. Documents produced are required to meet company standards, and requirements of FAA guidelines, Boeing and ATA Specs.

• The Technical Writers will work alongside the existing co-workers in Houston, Denver and Chicago to convert the existing operating/business manuals from current state format/system to future state format/system. These individuals will assist with project work, system loading, manual mark-ups and tagging, routing for review/approval and publishing manuals in the new system.

Job Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years equivalent work experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or aviation preferred

• Working knowledge of manual revision editing and processing required
• Publications experience involving computerized systems required
• Basic understanding of compliance regulations within publications required
• Ability to handle critical publication deadlines and maintain heavy workloads while prioritizing work
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to provide excellent customer support to internal customers and external vendors/contractors
• Functional expertise with PTC Arbortext Editor and Windchill highly preferred

• 2+ years technical writing background or related experience producing technical documentation; airline experience preferred
• Functional expertise with structured editors (e.g. MS Visual Studio, MS SQL Server, XML Editor, Documentum, HGML) required

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
