Job Description
Summary of Position:
An Electrical Engineer in the Radio Quality group will have primary responsibility for supporting product development teams, providing leadership and guidance with respect to world-wide wireless and telecommunications requirements. Successful completion of the required wireless and telecommunications activities will result in world-wide product approval, allowing for product release according to the program’s schedule. Additionally, this role will contribute to and assist in the development of internal test capabilities with respect to radio standards.

Position Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Radio Quality Manager, the Electrical Engineer in the Radio Quality group is responsible for support of Product Development teams to ensure wireless and telecommunication strategies and requirements are identified early in the product development process. This position is primarily responsible for developing radio and telecommunications approval strategies, as well as planning, coordinating and overseeing execution of the radio and telecommunication activities during the development process. In addition, this role will engage with the CRHF Radio Regulatory function, and possibly regulatory agencies, to address deficiencies identified during the submission review process. The Electrical Engineer in the Radio Quality group is also responsible for reviewing and updating radio-related documentation on legacy products such that changing requirements are met by the deadline. Additional responsibilities include developing test plans, writing test reports, and developing procedures to meet the needs of an expanding Radio Quality function within CRHF.

Basic Qualifications:
Basic qualifications for the Electrical Engineer in the Radio Quality group include:
• Fundamental knowledge of RF instrumentation and other electronic lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal and waveform generators, oscilloscopes, power meters and sensors, and RF amplifiers.
• Understanding of active implantable medical device functions and device programming at a system and firmware level.
• Skills to interpret and understand regulatory standards and clearly communicate their meaning to others.
• From an understanding of the standards, define test strategies, protocol and procedures that are applicable to active implantable medical devices and their associated instrumentation to minimize efforts during testing.
• Operation of medical device programmers and associated instruments.
• Knowledge and basic understanding of 50 ohm measurement systems. shielding and filtering.
• Fluent in MS Office applications, primarily Word and Excel.

Education Required:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Communication Systems.

Years of Experience:
Up to 3 years of experience with a desire to perform hands-on activities and interface with product development teams.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiar with radio regulations and standards such as FCC Part 15, EN/ETSI, ANSI/IEEE and European Directives
• Experience in evaluating products which contain wireless and telecommunication systems.
• Knowledge of wireless and inductive communication systems used in active implantable medical devices.
• Working knowledge of and programming experience in LabView.
• Knowledge and basic understanding of electromagnetic interference (EMI), RF shielding and high frequency filtering..
