Job Description
 
Operations/Production Supervisor:

Broad function and scope:
The Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Business Unit Manager and works closely with other members of the management team. He/she manages a team of approximately 30 to 40 operators working on multiple schedules (day, afternoon, night shifts). This position offers an excellent development opportunity if interested in becoming a Business Unit Manager or pursuing other operations-related positions. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for efficiently coordinating the labour force to perform their required job duties while achieving safety, quality and performance standards in meeting with production requirements.

Working Conditions
Works in an office and manufacturing environment with varying levels of noise and with requirement to wear company mandated uniform and safety gear such as safety shoes, hair net and lab coat.)

Primary responsibilities in order of importance and % of time spent on that responsibility:
? Manages employees in order to achieve / exceed the performance indicators of the department.
? Leads the Continuous Improvement activities of the department.
? Manages activities related to the employee relations.
? Identifying practices, processes and equipment for continuous improvement where possible.
? Communicates with various professionals in order to achieve the planned objectives and to ensure efficient operations.
? Participate as a member to multifunction teams as required.
? Schedule labour and assigning appropriate tasks according to line standards and output requirements.
? Manage group and individual performance by communicating expectations and results
? Trouble-shoot production problems in order to maintain and ensure line output
? Participate in the establishment of appropriate line standards to maximize output and minimize cost
? Ensure product quality through output and process inspections
? Coordinate activities to facilitate the adoption of HACCP certification for the factory
? Work in compliance to Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act & Ontario’s Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
? Ensure that all work is performed in a healthy and safe manner through following Ten Key Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) aspects:
1. Conduct our business in compliance with environmental, health & safety laws and with our global standards, and regularly assess the compliance of our operations against these requirements.
2. Maintain and continually improve systems to manage our EHS responsibilities, establishing and ensuring employee accountability for our EHS performance at all levels of the organization.
3. Set clear targets for continual improvement in our EHS performance and monitor to ensure that they are met.
4. Strive to prevent pollution and to minimize the environmental costs and impacts of our global operations.
5. Provide a safe and healthy environment for our employees, contractors and other visitors to our sites.
6. Assess and eliminate or control the EHS risks of new and existing operations, and continually assess the environmental performance of our products, seeking ways to contribute positively to their performance.
7. Train and motivate our employees to understand their EHS responsibilities and to participate actively in our EHS programmes.
8. Work with our supply chain and business partners to improve our collective EHS performance, to protect the ecosystems that provide our raw materials and to minimize the impacts form transportation.
9. Communicate with our shareowners, employees, customers and other interested parties by regularly reporting on our EHS performance and maintaining an open dialogue.
10. Review and update this policy regularly
