Job Description
Job Description: Position purpose:
The Target Protein Engineering group within the Biomedicine Design department seeks a protein expression scientist tasked with assisting in the expression of target proteins and antibodies in transient and stable eukaryotic expression systems to support immune protein screening, activity assays, binding assays, structural characterization, and/or to advance knowledge of candidate therapeutic proteins.

Primary responsibilities:
- Creation and characterization of stable mammalian cell lines for the production of target proteins for antibody discovery and validation.
- Culturing and maintenance of stable mammalian cell lines
- Characterization and documentation of expression results using gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, and other techniques
- Working as a team with group members to plan and prioritize expression queue and scale, to provide conditioned media or extracts to protein biochemists in expected time frame.
Additional Skills: Technical skill requirements:
- Proficiency in growth and maintenance of eukaryotic cell cultures is required.
- Demonstrated competency with various protein characterization methods (e.g. SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA).
- Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques, handling and preparing DNA from bacterial cultures, bioinformatics techniques for evaluating and manipulating DNA sequences is desired.
- Experience with small-scale protein purification is desirable.
- Knowledge and documented experience with E.coli protein expression platforms, including vectors, strains/cell lines, fusion proteins, purification tags, and expression optimization strategies is desirable.
- Proficiency with optimizing and troubleshooting instrumentation is desirable
