Job Description
 
Role: Sr. Database Administrator
Address: Charlotte, NC 28211
Contract Length: 6 months contract to hire

Summary: The Database Administrator is responsible for providing operational database services to the organization. The individual must be a competent, highly motivated, and independent person supporting our production, testing, and development environments. The DBA role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, and focus on managing and resolving in alignment with SLAs. Must establish and maintain communication with customers, keeping them updated with the status of requests, as well as proactively escalating issues that cannot be resolved within established timeframes. The DBA will take an active part in defining the technology direction for the Company and each business area that they support.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience with MSSQL Server 2014 or later.
• Experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server including security setup and automated deployments.
• Experience MS Change Data Capture (CDC) or equivalent auditing framework.
• Experience with troubleshooting and resolving database problems including deadlocks, long running queries, and job failures.
• Experience with performance tuning, optimization, using native monitoring, and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
• Experience with certificates and encryption, including MS Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
• Knowledge of high availability, replication, and disaster recovery options for MSSQL Server.
• Experience with implementing operational automation using scripts and Visual Studio database publishing.
• Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
• Experience working with Windows Server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations.
• Effective communication and documentation skills (written, oral, and listening).
• Willing to work independently and as an effective team member.

Preferred Candidates would also meet the following criteria:
• Experience with MS Office suite of products.
• Knowledge of SDLC with Team Foundation Server or an equivalent source control system.
• Experience with MS SSRS or other enterprise-reporting tool.
• Experience with MS SSIS or other enterprise transformation tools.
• Experience with MS Visual Studio 2015+ with an emphasis on ASP.NET, C#.NET.
• Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and Message Oriented Architecture.
• Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Working knowledge of best practices of database design and modeling.
• Certification is a plus.
