ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY DIRECTOR

Industry- Automotive
Location: - Troy, MI
Looking for candidates coming out of: Human Resources

Must Have:
• 10+ years of experience
• Experience building out EH&S strategy
• Experience with ISO
o ISO14001
• Experience with OSHA and EPA

What are the nice-to-have skills?
• Multilingual
• Safety management certification




Responsibility:
1. Create long term EH&S strategy and roadmap to meet the needs of the US plants aligned with the Corporate goals and objectives.
2. Drive to develop/localize, implement and monitor EH&S programs to ensure that the site meets goals
3. Collaborate with Plants EHS team to develop EH&S plans. Report EH&S performance to Top management
4. Align/Standardize the US EH&S policy and procedures based on relative national legislations & Company corporate guidelines
5. Supervise the EH&S management status and improvement plan to guarantee the real execution of relative actions, reduce occupational illness & working injury happen rate and set a better & safer working environment.
6. Assist the US Plants in handling with the working injury cases, identifying root cause and corrective actions.
7. Assist the US Plants in the preparation and maintenance of IS014001.
8. Organize hazards identification, environmental aspects and risk assessment, update & summarize the aspect list, define major safety & environmental aspects and guarantee all the aspects are under control;
9. Organize regular EH&S Audits to find out nonconformance and potential risk in the US Plants
10. Work with Advanced Planning teams for Greenfield and New Projects to ensure guidelines are considered.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor degree with major in safety related discipline
2. 10 years’ work experiences in the US Region
3. Ability for EHS system management and training;
4. Ability for communication effectively (Spanish is appreciated)
5. Safety management certification is preferred;
6. Accept travel about 50%

1. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
2. Strong effective communicator in writing, business presentations, and in interpersonal communication.
3. Sound judgment, strategic thinking, and solid problem-solving skills.
4. Individual leadership, analytical and problem solving skills.
5. Planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
6. Computer proficiency with Ms Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
7. Advanced knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and enforcement proceedings.
8. Experience in managing property/casualty loss control activities and industrial hygiene programs
9. Strong project management skills. Good attention to detail.
10. Must be able to work part of a team and motivate others.
