This is an exciting time to join the mechanical components engineering team as we develop new products for aircraft and engine modernizations within the commercial aviation industry. There are several key new programs in the aviation world, including the A320 NEO, 737 MAX and 777x, which our group is supporting.

The Electric Power (EP) organization within the Engines and Power Systems (E&PS) has an opening for a talented Sr. Systems Engineer (Technical Lead) with a product development background. This opening is in the Power Generation and Motors Engineering group.

The Power Generation and Motors group is responsible for the design of electric generators and motors for use in the aerospace industry. This opening is for a Sr. Systems Engineer (Technical Lead) within the Power Generation Technical Lead department. The successful candidate will provide systems engineering expertise in support of all stages of the design process for wound field electric generators, from initial proposal creation through detailed design to validation and verification activities. Candidates with generators, starter generators and/or related rotating machinery experience are desired as we strive to develop innovative products for our customers that exceed their expectations and delight their mechanical senses.

Position Responsibilities:
• Responsible for leading the systems engineering efforts in the development of wound field electric generators in order to satisfy customer, FAA, and internal requirements.
• Responsible for requirements creation and management for wound field electric generators
• Responsible for validation and verification activities for wound field electric generators
• Read, interpret, and comprehend customer specifications and requirements as they relate to new and existing products.
• Produce clear, concise, and technically accurate reports to communicate findings, analyses, and technical position statements.
Lead investigations and resolve issues for production, Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), and customers, field failures, application problems and design related product problems.
• Review and edit the technical work of others within the group. Provide constructive critical feedback to assure a high standard of the work products submitted to customers.
• Handle hardware, perform assemble and disassembly tasks, and use common hand tools, power tools, and inspection instruments.

Job Requirements
 
 
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of aerospace engineering experience.

Additional Qualifications:
• Experience in hardware/component development programs.
• Extensive knowledge of the design and construction of wound field electric generators used in aerospace applications, together with their integration into the wider electric power system.
• Experience in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
• Experience with Design-to-Cost (DTC) activities, manufacturing processes and techniques.
• Ability to work with teams to meet expectations of internal and external customers.
• Able to handle multiple customers/priorities with supervision reflective of level of experience and engineering level.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skilled in conveying technical ideas and concepts through team discussions, presentations and in writing tuned to the appropriate audience.
• Goal oriented in meeting performance, schedule and budget requirements. Monitors own activities, ensuring that tasks are appropriately defined, supported and achieved in a timely manner.
• Focused on customer needs, innovative, demonstrates a sense of urgency, consistent performance, communicates effectively and builds networks.
