Job Description
 
IT Category Manager Position Summary:
The IT Category Manager leads or assists internal project teams through strategic sourcing and category management processes to yield cost savings / spend reduction, while maintaining appropriate levels of quality, governed by contracts that minimize risk.

Responsibilities:
• Ability to independently manage teams of internal category / subject-matter experts through the strategic sourcing process transactions of above average complexity, regardless of the specific industry the purchase is associated with.
• This position works closely with the business units and the shared services organization in the development of short and long-term sourcing and procurement policies and strategies to meet the needs of internal customer requirements.
• Leads project teams throughout the sourcing process for complex IT projects in the following categories:
1. Endpoint Devices – PCs, mobile devices, peripherals and associated services
2. Colleague Productivity Tools and Services – Collaboration and productivity tool and software, Help Desk services and other related services
3. Print – Managed print services and personal printers
4. Telecommunications – Voice, Network, Wireless and Video products, services and management
5. Contact Center – Internally managed and externally hosted call center products, services and management
6. Hardware/Software – Servers, Mainframe, ELAs, SaaS and Cloud-based solutions
7. Application Development
8. BPO/ITO
• Leads cross-functional teams in the development of global sourcing strategies for the IT categories mentioned above.
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts, and engage them to actively participate in on-going sourcing efforts.
• Enlists the support of opinion leaders or experts who can enhance and reinforce the persuasiveness of one's own efforts.
• Plans and executes a strategy of both direct and indirect influence efforts in order to gain support and ownership from others.
• Gains broad agreement from others or bridges differences when viewpoints may be very far apart.
• Identify and pre-qualify potential suppliers.
• Construct financial and qualitative models to provide fact-based assessments of suppliers’ abilities to meet / exceed client’s needs at competitive price points.
• Role models active listening to ensure clear identification of both the content and emotion of a message.
• Embrace the corporate supplier diversity objectives and seek to contract with diverse firms, or secure commitments from primary suppliers to subcontract / utilize diverse suppliers.
• Draft and negotiate business contract language of significant complexity.
• Encourages others to push for closure and make decisions even when there is not a total agreement or consensus.
• Assist internal stakeholders with gaining consensus for final recommendation, finalize agreement accordingly and timely, and assist with implementation / transition / communication.
• Strong experience presenting and communicating to various levels of the organization, including executive leadership
• Manage the overall relationship with the IT supply base, including the goals and objectives of the business.
• Partner with stakeholders in quarterly review meetings with supplier to stay current on issues, validate that supplier is performing according to the contract, and be able to re-source when agreement comes due.
• Demonstrate ability to effectively manage projects with a pipeline of sourcing activities and deliver on associated timelines
• Adopt and utilize Global Spend Management tools and reporting mechanisms.
• Provide necessary visibility to Global Spend Management leaders; escalate issues appropriately.
• Proactively maintain and build category expertise by staying informed of industry trends and technology shifts.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree
• 5 - 8+ years of experience in a technology focused sourcing environment
