Job Description
• Purchasing Assistant position requires high level of communication, heavy phone work, including calling suppliers and expediting request for quotes (RFQ) responses and purchase order shipments.
• The Purchasing Assistant will process vendor acknowledgements, close out purchase orders, process receipts and cross dock administrative functions and post other information into our purchasing system.
• Will resolve shipping discrepancies, assist buyers program managers and other team members.
• Will perform data entry, run status reports, file and perform other general clerical duties.

This family performs routine clerical duties requiring limited knowledge of systems or procedures. Responsibilities include: writing, typing, or entering information into a computer, preparing correspondence, bills, statements, receipts, checks, or other documents, copying information from one record to another, proofreading records or forms, sorting and filing records, processing mail, answering calls, conveying messages, running errands, and making copies of documents.
SCOPE: Receives some instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Uses professional concepts to solve a variety of problems.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are semi routine in nature where judgment is resolving problems and making routine recommendations. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
IMPACT: Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules.
LIAISON: Interacts daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instruction on new assignments.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Having some knowledge and experience, able to handle unusual occurring job events. Choice of action requires more than common sense in that some training and experience is needed before knowing what to do under special circumstances.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a high school education or equivalent and 3+ years of business related experience.
